Wanda Morton Schroeder, 77 of Gresham OR, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Wanda Morton Van Reenen was born on June 15, 1936 in Camden On Gauley, West Virginia to Samuel Lloyd and Wilma (Morton) Van Reenen. Her father worked in a coal mine in West Virginia when Wanda was growing up, so she truly is a “Coal Miner’s Daughter”. She graduated from Pasco High School in Pasco, Washington. Wanda married Harold Edward Schroeder on May 22, 1972 in Reno, Nevada and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2003. She was active with the League of Women Voters and with Cornerstone Church. Wanda enjoyed playing golf, trips to Reno and the beach and time with her grandchildren.
Wanda is survived by her sons Steve Schroeder (Wendy) of Mesa AZ, Jim Schroeder (Lynn) of Gresham OR, Van Smith (Laura) of Portland OR and Lane Smith (Kris) of Gresham OR; sisters Betty Tarpley of Corbett OR, Donna Van Reenen of Troutdale OR, Gwen Sherman (Art) of Sandy UT and Therese Clark (Rich) of Springfield OR; grandchildren Jason, Ryan, Crystal, Jenni, Stacy, Ashley, Aleah, Shannon and Sam and great grandchildren Jordan, Hudson, Jace, Alice, Kate, Violet, Max, Jude, Gabriella and Anna.
A Celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
