Michelle Lynn Hunt

When someone is identified as a natural leader, certain images come to mind. First thoughts are of a no-nonsense, tough-minded, dedicated and disciplined person. This description accurately fits Michelle Lynn Hunt who was indeed strong willed and proud of her beliefs. She will be remembered as being creative, talented but practical and realistic. She was a person who always carried a strong sense of duty with her throughout her life. Michelle was an individual who clearly communicated to those around her just who she was and what she was all about. Everyone acquainted with Michelle knew her as a beautiful force with personality and a contagious sense of humor.

Michelle was born on September 9, 1989 at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Oregon and was the daughter of Michael Ephrem and Christina Hunt. Michelle was raised in Portland alongside her 2 sisters, Melissa “Honey” and Amanda. Even as a youngster, Michelle was smart and talented. Her faith in the principles of authority and dependability were something that she carried with her throughout her life molding her into the responsible, realistic young women she had become.

Throughout her 24 years, Michelle was able to put her natural abilities to work. She was creative, clever and friendly. She was teacher’s pet in every class and became a walking encyclopedia of trivia and facts. She loved to read and study absorbing as much information as possible filling her mind with the knowledge that gave her power. She also loved the Wizard of Oz and had a connection with Dorothy and her ruby slippers.

Michelle's matter-of-fact attitude allowed her to be strong in her beliefs and true to herself. She was stubborn but honest; a good person at heart, who loved her family, cherished her sisters and her brother-in-law, who she was so connected to, adored her grandfather and treasured her cousins and as well as her little niece, Chloe. She was sociable, approachable and witty with sarcasm. She was the family planner with an eye for design and fashion. She had a way of putting her signature touch on every task she completed and turning every family gathering into a work of art.

Michelle enjoyed the camaraderie of being with a group of friends, especially her “Starbuck’s Girls.” She worked as a Barista at the Starbucks at the Airport for 6 months but developed lifelong friendships with the co-workers who she simply loved.

Michelle approached her leisure time in the same manner that she approached her life. She was person who enjoyed thinking life’s obstacles through and one who understood the nature of things. She enjoyed cooking, baking and serving as a "Personal Shopper" for her family and friends. Michelle had a way about her; a mind full of so much creativity that she had no choice but to share it with the world.

Michelle lost her 3 years long battle with cancer on May 2, 2014 at her home in Portland surrounded by her family. She was 24 years of age. She is survived by her parents, Mike Ephrem and Christina Hunt, her sisters, Melissa "Honey" and Amanda and her beloved niece, Chloe. Michelle’s Services will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home on Friday, May 9, 2014 with a funeral service at 11:00 am followed by a celebration of life from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

All who knew her would agree that Michelle lived her life with her feet firmly on the ground. She was pragmatic in her thoughts and acts, and constantly expressed her zest for life and was willing to share her ideas and knowledge for the benefit of others, so that they could accomplish more in their lives. Michelle Lynn Hunt did her best to ensure that her family, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and everyone whose life she touched was given the chance to become a better person and because of the hearts and lives that she touched, she will be dearly missed. In the very profound words that Michelle spoke to April as she took her last breaths, “Let’s Go.”
