Mrs. Lillian Venoy Tiller Dyer

Lillian was born on July 28, 1917 in Gascoyne, North Dakota and was the daughter of Joe and Bertha (Lermeny) Tiller. She traveled 10 miles to school every day graduating from Gascoyne High School. She shared storied of braving the North Dakota bitter weather in order to complete her education. She graduated in 1929 and moved out west where she resided between California and Oregon.

During WWII, she worked as a bomber painter in San Diego, California. This ended after she fell during a painting job and injured her back. On October 12, 1946, she married Robert Earl Dyer in Yuma, Arizona. He later preceded her in death in 1970. They made their home in South Gate, California, where Lillian worked as a department manager for Blumenthal Manufacturing. She retired in 1982 and moved to Gresham, Oregon to be closer to her family.

Lillian had many hobbies in her lifetime. She loved gardening, sewing and watching Billy Graham on the television. She had a love for animals and deeply cared for her two cats and companions Baby and Big Boy. She was also proud that she was privledged to have seen the Spruce Goose Fly. Besides the activities she loved in life, family and friends were her top priority. She simply enjoyed the time spent with her daughter Lorna, grandchildren and great grandchildren and also cherished her lifelong friendships with Grace and Helen; whom she reunited with in Gresham after many years of letter writing and keeping in touch. They were friends from South Dakota and North Dakota and shared many memories to include square dancing as young ladies. Lillian also had great pride in being a good neighbor and became very close with the Wheat Family; neighbors that she considered family.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Lorna (husband, Roy) Porterfield of Portland, grandchildren Mark (wife, Kathy) Porterfield, Rob (wife, Jill) Porterfield and Loren (wife, Wendy) Porterfield, Bob L. (wife, Becky) Dyer and LeAnn Dufrene along with great grandchildren, Jeremiah Porterfield, Brody Porterfield, Brogen Porterfield, Hayley Porterfield, Austin Porterfield, Eli Porterfield, Patrick Dyer and Kelsey Dyer.

A private memorial service will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Mausoleum in Gresham. Contributions may be made in memory of Lillian to the Oregon Humane Society.
