John served in the US Army during the Korean War. While stationed in France, John was in the Bugle Corps, played football for the base and was a mechanic. Following the military, John went to work for Sears and became a top national salesman, then went on to own and operate a successful agency for Farmer’s Insurance. An active Mason for most of his life, John attained his 32nd degree with El Bekal Temple and participated in numerous charitable endeavors.
In 1984, he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, and opened a practice in Tustin, CA. In 1986, John married Molly Scoles at a private ceremony in Laguna Beach, CA.
Moving to Oregon in 1991, John purchased a commercial lot in Gresham and built Cafferty Chiropractic Center. A life-long learner, John continued his passion for Chiropractic through supplemental certifications and serving as a president for Oregon Doctors of Chiropractic (ODOC), the ICA State representative and writing various articles and newsletters.
Almost matching his zeal for Chiropractic, John’s fervor and enthusiasm for New Orleans Saints football was legendary. A die-hard fan who stuck with his beloved Saints from the very beginning of the team, there was no happier day then when they finally won the Super Bowl. John truly enjoyed the beauty of the Northwest, and loved showing it off to visiting family and friends.
