Geraldine P (Clark) Hamann, age 98, of Washougal, Washington, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Before her passing Gerrie was surrounded by many loved ones. Gerrie is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Barbara and Don Burril of Washougal, WA, Suzzanne and Gregory Green of Anderson Island, WA, and Nancy and Harris Kimble of Bend, OR; and her 13 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Gerrie was born on July 9, 1925 in La Grande, Oregon, and was the daughter of Gerald and Alice Lavon (Blaisdell) Pierson. Gerrie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters and their spouses, Jean and Maury Weis, Helen and Jack Edmondson; brother, Howard Pierson; and two grandsons, Joey Donais and David Parker.
At age 16, Gerrie graduated from La Grande High School and at age 17, married Bob Clark on May 18, 1943. In June 1965, Gerrie graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, Gerrie, Bob, and their daughters moved to Portland, Oregon where she taught first and second grade and was a librarian in the Parkrose school district. In 1977, Gerrie graduated with a Master’s degree from Portland State University. Gerrie officially retired from the Parkrose school district in 1982 and became a financial planner for Waddel and Reed.
Bob Clark passed away on February 1, 1991. Gerrie then met Gerry Hamman and they were married on April 11, 1992. Gerry passed away on July 30, 2017. Gerrie is survived by Gerry’s four sons and their spouses, Mike and Carolyn, Steve and Norlene, Lucas and Leanne, and Tom and Darlene; and their families, including 23 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. What a wonderful family! Combined Gerrie is survived by seven children with their spouses, 36 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Gerrie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had been a congregation member of the Portland 8th, Portland 16th, Powell Butte, and Blue Lake Wards. In January 2021, Gerrie moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Don and was a member of the Washougal, WA Mount Norway ward.
A visitation will occur Friday, May 3, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3920 Q Street, Washougal, WA 98671. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3920 Q Street, Washougal, WA 98671.
