Daniel Jesus Hernandez

A visitation for Daniel will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham, Oregon. A celebration of life gathering will occur 12-3 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Blue Lake Park, Fairview, Oregon, Wooden structure "Celilo A&B"

Daniel Jesus Hernandez was born to Ruben E. Hernandez and Rachel A. Miranda in Oxnard, CA on April 23, 1993. He loved football from a very young age, playing flag football and later football and tennis in at Port Hueneme High School. Daniel continued playing tennis while he studied at Ventura Community College. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Simpson fan; could be seen most days wearing Cowboys gear.

Daniel was fiercely independent and always worked for what he wanted. His family and friends were very significant to him and he wanted to see everyone happy. Daniel was always his mama’s helper and the keeper to his brother. Daniel loved riding his skateboard or fishing off the pier with his older brother. He helped coach baseball for his younger brother Joey. Daniel was often referred to as the “glue” or the “rock” that kept his very large extended family in both Oregon and California together. He had a very big heart, who loved family traditions and most importantly the baking of Christmas cookies every year for family and friends to experience.

Daniel moved to Portland, Oregon in 2012 and moved his mother and brothers here just a year later. One of his biggest achievements was hiking Mount St. Helens with coworkers. In 2015, he met his wife Meagan at Capsa Healthcare where they both worked. They eventually married a few years later and had their only child Daniel “DJ” Hernandez Jr.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Meagan; his son DJ Hernandez; his mother Rachel Miranda and his brothers Ruben and Joey Hernandez. He is preceded in death by his father Ruben E. Hernandez.
