Barbara Lee Sherwood

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Duane A. Sherwood; her sister, Kathryn F. Atkinson and her brother, Howard Fearn.

She is survived by her two sons; Kenneth A. Sherwood & wife Tracy, and Daniel W. Sherwood & wife Terry; six grandchildren, Natalie M. Molina, Melanie F. Vargas, Ross A. Sherwood, Maggie E. Sherwood, Valerie A. Sherwood and Zachary D. Sherwood; six great grandchildren, Christopher R. Molina, Olivia R. Molina, Adrian J. Molina, Colin M. Vargas, Andrew J. Vargas and Kady J. Sherwood.

Barbara was born in Rye, Colorado where she helped butcher the chickens for Sunday dinner and helped her dad write letters to his building customers. The family moved several times, and she graduated with the class of 1950 from Gresham High School. Barbara and Duane were married on November 2nd, 1951 in Weiser, ID.

Barbara loved spending time with her family, cooking for the holidays and making cakes for birthday parties. She was quite the cook! Barbara had lots of flowers and ornamentals to take care of and water. She loved it when the humming birds would pay a visit to her feeders. Barbara was a Trail Blazer fan. She also liked reading the newspaper, and clipping out articles of interest to share.

Barbara had a favorite cat named Gracie.

Barbara served her community well; she was on the Boring Water District Board for more than 28 years, the Boring School Board for several years, and was a member of the Mt. Hood Chapter Nurseryman Association for more than 25 years. Barbara helped with the voting booths and registration, and was a member of the Republican Women’s Association.

She will be missed by all that knew her.

Barbara’s Celebration of Life will be at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W Powell Blvd., Gresham, OR 97030 on August 3rd, 2019 at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception.
