Omer “James” Pearcy, 78, of Hackett, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in a Fort Smith hospital. James was born April 27, 1946 in Abergavenny, South Wales to Omer D. and Ellen Pearcy. He was a retired lifelong mechanic, member and deacon of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church and member of the Arkansas Valley Antique Tractor Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Speaks and husband, Jamie of Hackett and Karla Patterson and husband, Darian of Fort Smith; four brothers, Andrew Pearcy and wife, Ruthie of Greenwood, Darrell Pearcy and wife, Jean of Greenwood, Marvin Pearcy and wife, Joyce of Booneville and Lester Pearcy and wife, Francie of Hackett; one sister, Katheryn Williams and husband, Maxwell of Warren, AR; four grandchildren, J.C. Patterson and wife, Brianna, Haley Speaks, Jacob Speaks and Lydia Speaks and five great grandchildren, Mason, Jensen, Waylon James, Waylon Elijah and Levi. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Pearcy.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, December 14 at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Ramsey Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Friday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Roger Rainwater, Terry Moran, Brian Holycross, Randy McFadden and Jacob Speaks. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Comer, Clyde Traylor, Carol Slate, Jerry Crockett and Jimmy Strozier.
