Marty Dean Driscoll

Marty Dean Driscoll, 69, of Greenwood, Arkansas, was welcomed by his Savior the morning of December 13, 2024. Born on September 22, 1955, in Paris, Arkansas, Marty’s life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and love for his family, friends, and community. He was the definition of a hardworking father, devoted husband, adored Papaw, supportive and protective brother, and a selfless friend who always put others first.

Marty was a proud and active member of Greenwood First Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter and a friend to many. His commitment to his faith extended far beyond the church doors, as he lived his life as an example of Christ’s love, ministering to others with his kind heart and generous spirit wherever he went. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, always offering a helping hand or a listening ear.

Marty was widely regarded as one of the best butchers around. His journey in the trade began early in life, and he became known for his exceptional skills and dedication to his craft. For 41.5 years, he proudly owned and operated The Butcher Block in Fort Smith, AR, a family business where he built strong relationships with his customers and staff. Each person who walked through the door was treated like family, with Marty’s signature warmth and hospitality ensuring they always felt welcome. His passion for his work extended beyond the shop; he loved sharing his knowledge with others and offering a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Outside of his work, Marty was a man of many interests and talents. He was a well-respected cattleman, a passionate gun-trading enthusiast, a true connoisseur of fine meats, and a lover of classic rock music. He had an appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in nature, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the beauty of the world around him.

Marty’s family was the center of his world. He was married to the wife of his youth, Leeann, for 44 years, and together they raised three wonderful daughters. He was immensely proud of his children and their families. His daughters, Aubree Driscoll-Thornton (Chase), Emily Gordon (Jacob), and Sarah Burchfield (Brent), along with his four cherished grandchildren, Forrest Burchfield, Caroline Gordon, Dixie Burchfield, and Patrick Gordon, were the light of his life. Marty adored being “Papaw” and took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, always ready with a laugh, a memory, or a comforting hug.

Marty was also a devoted and loving brother. He shared a close bond with his siblings, Rex Driscoll (Stephanie), Marion Driscoll (Sandra), and Penny Harris (Lewis). His love and support for his family were unwavering, and he was always there when anyone needed him.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Johnnie Driscoll, who instilled in him the values of hard work,pride, and loyalty. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

The family invites all who knew and loved Marty to join them for a celebration of his life on Wednesday, December 18 at 1 p.m. at Greenwood First Baptist Church. Open visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 - 7 p.m. at Greenwood First Baptist Church, with family attending from 5 - 7 p.m.

Marty’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to impact the lives of those who were touched by his kindness and grace.
