Leroy Goodman, 92, of Alma, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in a Fort Smith hospital. Leroy was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma to Lee and Dortha (Buffalow) Goodman. He was a proud Army veteran and served multiple tours during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his duties in the Army, he worked many years at Rheem, until his retirement. He enjoyed welding, fabricating, making knives, carpentry and playing the harmonica and guitar.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Sypone, of the home; children, Sharon Hickey, Donna Wright, Michelle Jones, Paula Zahradnick, James Marsh, Garla Marsh, Ursula Carter, Ricky Phonhthydeth, Sakonh Taylor, Kayle Long and Dave Phonhthydeth; 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a wife, Clara Goodman and two sons, Tony Goodman and Ricky Marsh.
Funeral service with military honors will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 15 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, Arkansas. Viewing will be Monday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Marsh, Kyle Marsh, Torray Robinson, James Carter, Ricky Phonhthydeth and Alex Chanthaphasouk. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Phangdovang, Daniel Peters, Jacob Clarkson, David Vongxay and Cody Marsh.
