James retired to Greenwood in 2010 after working many years for Arkhola Sand and Gravel in Fort Smith followed by many more years for the corporate office as data program manager for Ashland Oil in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a former member of the Fort Smith Exchange Club and First Free Will Baptist Church in Greenwood. James will be missed by both family and friends.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with inurnment at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be prior to service beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by two brothers, David Hindmarsh and wife, Anita of Fort Smith and John Hindmarsh and wife, Becky of Van Buren; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hindmarsh of Ellijay, GA; two sisters-in-law, Mary Scroggins and Carol Sue Scroggins both of Fort Smith and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Roberta (Scroggins) Hindmarsh, son, Darrel Ray Hindmarsh, parents, Darrell “Bud” and Ruth (Simmons) Hindmarsh.
