Haley J. Long, formerly of Fort Smith, died Sunday, January 13, 2019 at her home in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born February 28, 1994 at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith. She is survived by her parents, John and Tracy Long of Fort Smith, Arkansas; grandparents, Jim and Karen Harding of Cedarcreek, Missouri; a number of cousins, aunts and uncles; and Chips, her very best cat.
Haley attended First Lutheran School as well as Greenwood public schools. A 2012 graduate of Greenwood High School, she was a member of the 2011 State Championship Volleyball team. She attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway for 2 years, where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. After returning to Fort Smith, she worked for River City Bistro and Charming Charlie. In early 2018, Haley moved to Little Rock where she finally created her life. She had a job she loved at Whole Foods and a man she loved, Caleb Hanson. She was happier than she’d ever been, she was enjoying making plans for the future. Haley had an amazing sense of humor and loved nothing more than to make those around her laugh and be happy. Her love for animals was evident through the stray cats and dogs she took in and the turtles she stopped for along the road.
A celebration of Haley’s life will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Guests are asked to wear colorful clothing in honor of Haley’s personality and spirit for life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the HOPE Humane Society, 3800 Kelley Hwy., Fort Smith, AR 72904.
