It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Thomas F. Keaveney, who passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024 at the age of eighty-five. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, he was a man of high character and genuine warmth to all friends and family.
He was born on October 13, 1938, in New York City to the late William J. and Beatrice Keaveney. Tom was the cherished husband of the late Catherine A. Keaveney (McCormick) and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage before her passing. Tom graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, NY in 1956 and then enrolled at Manhattan College where he graduated with a BS degree in Accounting in 1960. After college he served in the US Army before starting his career at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) in 1961 and earned his CPA in 1964. He was named a Partner in 1970 in the New York office and then was transferred to Pittsburgh in 1971 to oversee the Mellon Bank audit relationship. He returned to New York in 1978 to oversee the Citibank relationship where the family moved to Greenwich, CT. Tom was promoted to Head of the National Audit Banking practice in 1984 and oversaw a growing practice of the firm where he was involved in a number of large M&A transactions. He retired in 1995 having spent the entirety of his 36-year professional career at KPMG. Upon retirement he joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington teaching Accounting and Ethics in the Graduate Business School until 2000.
Tom is survived by his brother William (Peggy) and his five loving children, Ann Marie, Peter (Christine), Patricia MacDonell (Craig), Joann McCarthy (Jeff) and Kevin Keaveney (Keri). He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Colin (Cate), Caroline Finigan (Alec), Catherine McCarthy, Hope McCarthy, Connor MacDonell, Anna and Kevin Jr.; as well as his great-grandson Casio Oscar Keaveney.

Forever remembered and deeply missed, Tom’s spirit will continue to move all who were fortunate enough to know him.
