Charline Vincent Dale, of Greenwich, CT, died on March 9, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born in Edmonson County, Kentucky on August 4, 1925, the daughter of Roscoe Vincent and Texia Goff Vincent. Her father, a lawyer and farmer, was the eldest of 10 brothers from Brownsville, KY. Her uncle, Beverly Vincent, was a U.S. Congressman from Kentucky, as well as Attorney General of the state. Senator Marvel Logan from Kentucky was a cousin.
Charline Dale became a lawyer when few women did, graduating from the University of Cincinnati Law School. She met her husband, E. Randolph Dale, when they worked at the Internal Revenue Service as tax lawyers. They married in 1955 and had two daughters, Allyson and Kristan. They moved to New York City where Mr. Dale was a Partner in the firm of Hawkins, Delafield & Wood. In 1965, they moved to Bronxville, NY where they raised their children. Charline Dale worked at various law firms in Washington, D.C., Detroit, and New York, and in later years, in Dallas and Connecticut.
While she was devoted to her legal work, Mrs. Dale was tirelessly active in community service, as head of the local Red Cross, Sunday School teacher, PTA, town political organizations, hospital volunteer, and on the Board of various nonprofits. She was always a major contributor to whatever community she found herself in.
Her greatest love was her family. She adored and was so proud of her children, their spouses and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Allyson Dale Samson and Kristan Dale Zimmermann, her sons-in-law, Trip Samson and Victor L. Zimmermann, and her grandchildren, Victor R. Zimmermann, Jack Zimmermann, Lucy Zimmermann, Henry Samson and Peter Samson. Her husband, E. Randolph Dale, predeceased her. She is also survived by many beloved siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of her life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich, 1 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT, on April 8th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Calvernia Willis Vincent Scholarship Fund c/o College Heights Foundation, 1906 College Heights Blvd. #41016, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
