Cocoa Beach, Florida
William Allen Wentworth, 83, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, husband of Malinda Nachman Wentworth passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020.
Bill was born in Wichita, Kansas on November 13, 1936 to the late Azel Linus and Ruby Startzman Wentworth. Working at his family’s cherry orchard as a youth, he started his first business at the age of 17 selling parts to Boeing. He then enlisted into the US Airforce where he was a pilot for 8 years. Following his time in the military, he was a pilot for Delta Airlines for 22 years. He then owned a cable television company in Conyers, Georgia and a cell phone company in Santa Barbara, California. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida where he enjoyed riding his bike on the beach, and spending time with his family. Loved and adored by his children and grandchildren, he was one of the most honorable, selfless men God put on this earth who never made a promise that he didn’t keep. He devoted every spare moment to his kids as they grew and his grandchildren who he loved dearly. He considered them all to be his greatest accomplishment. Once having a near death experience, he knew that his passing would be a peaceful, happy event and wanted all who survived him to believe and have faith in his and their futures.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, William Allen Wentworth, Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina, and Linda Wentworth Bridges (Gene) of Simpsonville, SC; and his grandchildren, Brantley James Wentworth, Olivia Frances Wentworth, Maxwell Reed Bridges, and Lauren Ann Bridges.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2020 in the Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the mausoleum.
