William H. Kirby, Jr., 77, of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, following a month-long hospitalization due to heart disease. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, he was born on April 18, 1947 to the late William H. Kirby, Sr. and Mary Frances Jones Kirby.
He graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1965 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1970, and a Master of Engineering degree from the University of South Carolina in 1976. While at Clemson, he was in Army ROTC, a member of Pershing Rifles, and a member of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade. A registered professional engineer, Bill spent the majority of his career with Southern Bell, Bell South, and the Southern Company, and later worked in private consulting and as the VP of Corporate Development for Aunigma Network Solutions Corp., a telecommunications company.
Bill will be remembered as one who loved his family dearly and who was invariably proud of their talents and accomplishments. A faithful Christian man who loved the Lord and his country, he was always generous and eager to help those in need. We rejoice that Bill is no longer struggling in his physical body, but is healed and at peace with his Lord. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Barbara, his daughter, Anna Ottosen (Corey), and four grandchildren, Linnea, Elin, Anders, and Soren.
