Ruth Ann Ballard

Ruth Ann Ballard, age 85, of Easley, South Carolina passed away Monday, August 28, 2023. Ruth was born December 19, 1937 in Leivasy, West Virginia to Elva Catherine McCutcheon Amick and Robert Fulton Amick.

Ruth moved to Wheaton, Illinois and was a secretary at The Sword of the Lord and Scripture Press. Ruth was active in churches wherever she lived, and began teaching Sunday School as a teenager, sang in the choir, and was church librarian among many other roles. While in Wheaton, she met her husband Ernie. They later spent over 20 years in Lexington, Kentucky where their daughter was born and Ruth was a homemaker. They retired in Palm Bay, Florida and enjoyed living near their granddaughters. In 2010 they moved to Easley, South Carolina where she and her family served Christ as members of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elva Amick, three sisters- Luva Ruckman, Marie Ball, and Beulah Pratt, four brothers- Robert, Everett, Ray and Homer Amick, as well as her husband of 59 years, Ernest Ballard, Jr.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Joy Lynn Harrison and son-in-law Greg Harrison, granddaughter Valancy Lane Albach and husband Jason Albach, and granddaughter Delta Rae Harrison.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am conducted by Dr. David Gallamore in The Chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, South Carolina, 29609. A burial will occur following the service in Woodlawn Memorial Park
