Bob was born November 23, 1930 in Danville, VA, graduated from Granite Falls High School in NC in 1948 and married the love of his life Mavis Vickery June 13, 1953.
Bob was a 20-year veteran of the US Air Force and served the US Post Office for over 20 years. Bob was an active member of Advent United Methodist Church and an avid patron of many charitable organizations. Bob was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Duke Blue Devils basketball team.
He was predeceased by his wife Mavis Vickery Yount. Bob is survived by his daughter Susan Yount Martin, son Robert Edward “Ed” Yount II and wife Gina Yount and his grandchildren Mary Alice Vickery Hughes Hardin and husband Adam Hardin, Lillie Ashton Yount and husband Jeremy Getman, Robert Edward “Ward” Yount III and Katie Claire Yount.
Bob’s family will receive friends from 12 – 1:30 pm at The Mackey Mortuary on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. The service will immediately follow at 1:30 pm in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Anderson, SC.

Bob will always be remembered for how courageously he served the Lord and his country, how much he loved his family, and that special twinkle in his smile.
