Osborne Glenn Wood

Glenn was born in Oneonta, Alabama on April 8, 1939. He was raised in Spartanburg South Carolina in the Southern Shop neighborhood. He graduated from Fairforest High School in 1957 at the age of 17. He joined the Navy at the age of 16, and following graduation, he immediately entered active duty and spent three years service on the USS Saratoga. After his active duty, he returned to Spartanburg, and he attended Wofford College where he went on to graduate in 1964 with a degree in both Mathematics and Physics. While attending college, he also served in the US Navy Reserves. On December 17, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart Patricia Annette Bishop of Valley Falls, SC. After graduating from Wofford College, he continued his education at the University of Tennessee where he also taught freshman mathematic courses.

Beginning in his mid-60s, Glenn spent his entire professional career building and running complex computer systems for different textile manufacturing companies. He worked for Arthur McGill/Her Majesty Industries from 1967 to 1982. He spent last 14 years of his career as a Vice President of Management Information Services at Allison Manufacturing Company in Albemarle, North Carolina.

After retiring in 2001, he and Pat returned to the Greenville area to be close to family and friends. During his retirement years, he continued to pursue his love of hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a loving, proud father and grandfather. He will always be remembered by his family as devoted and loving; and for his tremendous pride in having served his country. The wonderful stories he often told about his worldwide adventures will be missed but not forgotten.

In addition to Patricia, his wife of 61 years; he is survived by his two sons: Jefferson (Meg) and James (Lisa); grandson, Josh (Shay); granddaughters: Victoria, Maggie, and Katie; and a great granddaughter, Anastasia. He is also survive by many extended family members in North Carolina and South Carolina.

He was predeceased by his father, Osborne Glenn Wood, Sr. and mother, Eunice Mae Wood; sister, Marylyn and brothers: Wayne and James.

Due to the current Covid illness in the family, a memorial service and family graveside service will be held for his cremated remains at a later date (to be announced).
