Nell was predeceased by her husband, Professor Richard Adams, sister Betty G. Thompson Glenn, and brother Reverend James H. Thompson.
She was a graduate of North Greenville College and Furman University. She taught school in Columbia, Clinton and Greenville, and later at Greer Literacy Association where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year.
She was married to Professor Richard O. Adams (Presbyterian College) for 45 wonderful years and enjoyed almost 14 years of marriage to her current husband, Reverend William O. Montgomery.

Nell always had a hunger for more of God, to follow Him and wholly serve Him. She was a member of Greenville First Assembly of God and in her earlier years taught Sunday school and was the organist.
