Michael was hired by Scottish textile company J & P Coats. After a one-year traineeship in Colombia, South America, Michael worked for them in Scotland, Germany and India, before moving to Greenville. He worked for Coats for 42 years until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; a son, Adrian and wife, Amy; a daughter, Lucy Brewer and husband Thom; a son, Jamie and partner Mike; four grandchildren, Callum, Morgan, Aiden, and Ewan.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church, Greenville, officiated by Rev. Mike Hoyt. Friends will be received after the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The family would like to acknowledge the unflinching and dedicated service of his doctor, Alex Yang.
Memorials in his honor may be made to the Cancer Survivors’ Park or the St. Francis Bon Secours Foundation.
