Mary Catherine Bezek

Born May 23, 1946, Mary Catherine (Beals) Bezek was the daughter of the late Robert J. Beals and Nora Gearhardt Beals. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Ann McAlister, and brother, Robert E. Beals (Marie).

Mary was a devoted wife to Gary Bezek for 34 years and mother of two children: James Goss and Michelle Pear Maloney (Richard). She was also a wonderful grandmother to 7 grandchildren: Megan Banks (Nick), James Goss, Michael Goss, Will Pear, Mary Kate Pear, Joseph Maloney, Ryan Maloney, and one great-grandchild, Drew Banks. Three siblings also survive Mary: Helen Slivinsky (Francis); Walter Beals (Donna); and Margaret Nau (Konrad).

Mary was born and raised in Johnstown, PA and moved to SC in 1994 where she worked for Verizon Wireless in Human Resources in Greenville. Her greatest joy was loving her family, which she did so well. She especially enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays, making every occasion special. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially with her grandchildren, making homemade pizzas, birthday cakes, muffins, family dinners, and a variety of other favorites. Mary loved her Maltese, Gracie, and enjoyed taking her with her whenever possible.

Mary was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville, SC, where she taught Christian Formation for several years prior to her illness. Mary’s family rejoices that she is now whole again and resting in heaven.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church 2252 Woodruff Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29681 on Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception for family and friends at the Church’s Gathering Hall.
