Marion T. Faile, 93, of Simpsonville, husband of Margaret Hardwick Faile, died on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Born in Rock Hill, SC, Mr. Faile was the son of the late James T. and Esther Z. Faile. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Faile served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and participated in the Battles of Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After receiving his bachelor of fine arts degree from the Richmond Professional Institute, College of William and Mary, Mr. Faile worked in the graphics art department of the Naval Surface Weapons Center in White Oak, MD, for 29 years.
Mr. Faile was a member of the Seminar-Corder Sunday school class at First Baptist Greenville.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years; two sons, Andrew I. Faile (Laura) of Highland, MD, and Eric J. Faile, M.D. (Judith Ann) of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Matthew, Anna, and Andrew; one sister, Christine Setzer of Columbia, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of First Baptist Greenville, 847 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 27. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Prayer Room prior to the service. A committal service with military honors will take place immediately following in the Remembrance Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Greenville Ministry to Families or the charity of one’s choice.
