Margaret Ulmer

The daughter of Franklin Albert Ulmer and Helen League Ulmer, Margaret's musicality was nurtured by her vocalist mother and organist uncle. She privately studied voice and piano, and traveled to musical performances across the globe.

Margaret served on the Furman Advisory Board and the boards of the Metropolitan Arts Council and Greenville Symphony Orchestra. She was a five-year President and Orchestra Scholarship Chair of the Crescent Music Club in addition to serving as Opera Chair of the National Federation of Music Clubs.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Greenville.

Margaret funded multiple musical programs and scholarships in the Greenville community. She is survived by her friend, Anne Braswell, her two children Claire and Elizabeth Braswell, her cousins Frank and Barbara League, George League and his children Carson and Quinn, and Fraser and Linda League and their children, Alexis and Stephen.

A visitation for Margaret will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret Ulmer's name may be made to the Crescent Music Club, 17 La Vista Ct, Greenville, SC 29601 or the Metropolitan Opera.
