She was born Margaret Louise Nienaber on December 6th, 1934 in Chicago’s Ravenswood hospital to her mother, Ina Brown, and father John Carl Nienaber. She grew up with her mother who remarried and adopted Margie Lou into her new family as Margie Lou Chapin.
Margie graduated from the Arizona Bible Institute and worked as a teacher and administrative assistant performing many different duties for various schools and organizations (including the Realty Board job she worked at the time of her marriage). She met her husband, Franklin S. Hall, while a member of Faith Baptist Church in Canoga Park, CA in 1977. They were married on May 20th, 1978.
Margie and Frank continued to live and work in California until his retirement from Northrup in 1992. They moved to Shannon, IL in August of that year, remaining there for several years before finally moving to Greenville, SC in 2000.
Margie was quite the seamstress, especially talented in quilting. She won many prizes for her skill in sewing quilts, exhibiting great talent and creativity in her designs.
Margie was especially grateful for her best friend, Arlene Cornelius (and her family) who helped Margie with so many personal challenges she faced through her life. She and Franklin were faithful to the churches they joined. They also supported their local American Legion organizations wherever they lived. Margie was Chaplain for several years at the local Greenville American Legion Auxiliary Unit #3.
Physical difficulties kept Margie confined to skilled nursing care for her final two years of life. She appreciated the visits and many kind cards from friends and family.
She had no children but leaves this world with her step-daughter, Jean Neely, step-son, John Hall, and their children surviving her. Jean’s eldest daughter grew up knowing and even living with Franklin and Margie for a brief period of time. They appreciated her greatly.
Margie will be laid to rest beside Franklin at the Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC after her funeral and visitation on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
