Joyce McDaniel Barton

Joyce Barton, 89, of Greenville, SC, passed away on July 31, 2024. Born on December 10, 1934, in Caribou, ME, she was the daughter of Alex and Viva McDaniel. Joyce was a devoted member of Hampton Park Baptist Church and dedicated 35 years of volunteer service to the Greenville Hospital System/Prisma.

Her greatest joy was supporting her husband, Roy Barton, in his ministry and caring for extended family, especially for those who attended Bob Jones University during their college years. She is survived by her husband, Roy Barton of Greenville, SC; daughters Debbie Reem (Marvin) of Sweet Valley, PA, and Paula Barton of Taylors, SC; and grandchildren Melanie Taylor (Tim) of Granbury, TX, and Michael Reem (Sarah) of Sweet Valley, PA. Joyce also leaves behind great-grandchildren Bailey, Dabney, and Finley Taylor, and Silas, Isaiah, AnnaBeth, Malachi, and Naomi Reem.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne McDaniel (Pat) of Caribou, ME, and was predeceased by two sisters, Judy Livingston and Susan Herrick. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Tompkins of Greenville, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Shepherd’s Care, The Gables at Pelham, Providence Care, and Complete Homecare of America for their exceptional care over the past two years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Bob Jones University or to Gospel Fellowship Association.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the main chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with her nephew Steve Tompkins officiating.
