Joseph Sirrine Stall was born in Greenville on July 31, 1940 to Earle Russell and Nelle Mackey Stall. He graduated Greenville High School and North Carolina State University. Upon graduation, Joe used his Furniture Manufacturing degree at Stanley Furniture in Martinsville, Virginia, where he worked for several years.
Joe married Mary Cecelia McCullough in 1971. He (and Mary) moved back to Greenville and opened retail store John Simmons, which they operated for seven years. Joe then began a career in residential real estate, working at The Furman Co., RE/MAX Realty Professionals, and Coldwell Banker Caine. They were members of First Presbyterian Church until 2011, when they joined John Knox Presbyterian Church.
Joe was a faithful servant of the church as an Elder, committee member, and Sunday School class member. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, exploring the beach and the mountains, listening to music, reading, and woodworking.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, his siblings, and his wife Mary. He is survived by his daughters Laura Sims (Derek) of Inman and Susan Clark (Mark) of Simpsonville, sister-in-laws Betty Peace Stall of Greenville, Emily White of Delaware and Margaret Havens of Virginia, six grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the sanctuary of John Knox Presbyterian Church, 35 Shannon Drive, Greenville on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 11:00 am. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
