John Vincent Barratt was born to Vincent Donald Barratt and Joyce Florence Barratt (Redman) in St Heliers Hospital, Sutton Surrey England on Tuesday December 30, 1947, he was in such a hurry to make his entrance he was almost born in the elevator. John was “Promoted to Glory” at 8:30 am on Thursday March 24, 2022 at age 74 years following the results of a traumatic motorcycle accident May 6, 2016.
John was married to the love of his life, Virginia, who he married at age 21. They have two children, his daughter Michelle Louise Bateman (Travis); his son Iain V. Barratt (Dorenda) who were the light of John’s life. John is survived by his spouse Virginia, his two children Michelle and Iain; his two granddaughters Kayleigh-Anne Workman (Michael); Karina-Lynne Horton (Blake) and his beautiful great grandchildren Michael “Ray” Workman III and Avrielyn Elise (Pookie) Horton. He is also survived by his sister Corrine Diane Ruffell who is a longtime resident of Scotland, United Kingdom.
John had a passion for motorcycling and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He also loved guns and he combined this love with being an instructor for SC CWP and a pistol instructor for NRA and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of both motorcycles and guns with all who stood and listened. He was an avid music lover especially The Beatles and the music of Elton John. John is remembered every day by his family, friends and business associates and always known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
John’s “Celebration of Life” service will be at Taylors First Church of God at a date and time to be determined.
