He was born May 4,1940 of the late Felipe Torres and Juana Heredia in Manhattan, NY.
Israel joined the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic on April 25,1960 and married the love of his life, Carmen Luisa Heredia in July of 1963.
They spent their life growing their family of 3 children traveling to various states and countries during his career.
Israel fought in the Vietnam War earning the Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with the Bronze Star, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Device, among several others. He retired and settled in Homestead, Florida until January of 2021 when he moved to Greenville, SC. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family so much and kept his doors wide open for them to come anytime. There was never a need to call ahead! He was a hard worker, great provider, loving, kind, thoughtful and a generous giver. Israel donated to countless charity organizations and was quick to help anyone in need. He loved carpentry and took pride in his home improvements.
Israel is survived by his wife Carmen, their daughter, Arleen Rivera and her husband Moises Rivera; his son, Michael Torres; grandchildren Stacy, Moses, Yoshabel, Michael, Kaitlyn, Zephra, Anram, Kayla and Jael; and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Joanna Torres.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM saturday, November 27, 2021 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
Burial to follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.
