Elizabeth JANE Pittman, 81, passed away on November 17, 2024, Jane was born in Asheville to the late Robert and Nell Roseborough on April 17, 1943. She grew up with her two brothers Robert and Carl who she was very close to and cared for when their mother became seriously ill.
At the age of 13, she met Archie Pittman, Jr., 17, who immediately knew he would one day make her his wife. Both being born on April 17th, they married 4 years later on April 17, 1960. They completed each other and were a perfect fit. They started a family right away and always made home a safe haven, not only for their own children but for anyone who needed it.
Jane was one of the strongest women you could ever meet. She endured many serious and life threatening illnesses over the years, but always wore a smile and continued to be an encouragement to all those around her. Her life was full. She was a homemaker and an expert seamstress. She was the Mom who could do anything. She enjoyed cooking delicious Southern country meals for her family and always had her famous Sweet Tea ready for anyone who stopped by. As her children, Alan, Kathy and Marlena grew up, she then became Grandma. And that was one of her favorite roles. She babysat most of the grandchildren over the years.
The family lived in Greenville, SC in the same family home until 1988. Archie’s job transferred him to Shelby, N.C., where they lived from 1988 until 2005. Because of growing health concerns for both Archie and Jane, they moved to Columbus, NC in 2005 where they were able to build a home just for them. Jane was a Collector Extraordinaire and her home was always like a museum with unique things to look at-always organized and spotless—always amazing those who would visit. She also loved becoming a Great-grandma and was so happy spending time with them as well.
As she grew older, she really enjoyed making her lap quilts that she would personalize for each person she made them for. She also loved puzzles and after completing a puzzle, she would glue it together to keep and display. Jane also loved her two cats-Baby and Junior. She didn’t want to leave them home alone and made sure to spoil both of them. Jane also had a silly side and always played games with those in the car with her. She always had a sharp eye for finding slug bugs, "Yellows", and JB Hunt trucks. And everyone in the car was welcome to play-regardless of where she was going or how long of a trip it would be.
Jane and Archie remained inseparable for 60 years--celebrating their anniversary with the whole family every year--until his death in November of 2020. She always said she felt incomplete but she remained strong and loved her family deeply. She held tight to her faith and her hope for the future as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses-getting baptized in 1971. She enjoyed sharing that hope and comfort from the scriptures with all those she met. She attended the Columbus Congregation.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, her honey-Archie Pittman Jr., and her daughter Kathy Ware. Jane is survived by: her Son:Alan (Karen) Pittman of Piedmont; Daughter Marlena (Tom) Warren of Columbus, NC and Son-in-law Randy Ware of Greenville; Grandchildren: Jessika (Ben) Davis of Mauldin, Melissa (Greg) Stegall of Taylors, Justin (Becky) Ware of Greer, Jana (David) Brown of Simpsonville, Trey (Farrah) Warren of Columbus, NC; Brandon (Taci) Warren of Inman, Dalton Pittman of Piedmont, and Kyle Dacus of Piedmont; Great-Grandchildren: Mallory Burrell, Kali Davis, Tommy Warren, Max Allison, Pittman Davis Wilkins Davis, Dayton Pittman, Makynlee Stegall, Piper Warren, Deacon Warren, Huxlei Warren and Bowyn Warren; Brothers: Robert(Louise) Roseborough and Carl (Susie) Roseborough; Sister-in-law: Geneva (Oliver) Holliday; and many nieces and nephews.
