Born July 21, 1930 to Harvey and Esther Snyder of Lakemore Village, Ohio. Don often spoke fondly of his childhood, during the time of the Great Depression, as a time when God allowed his parents to provide for many in the community as well as their own family. Working with his father. Playing in the woods beside the lake on which he ice skated, fished, built campfires and enjoyed the Ohio life.
After graduating from high school, Don attended Kent State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts, Penn State University earning a Master’s Degree in Education and Bob Jones University for Biblical training.
Donald Eugene Snyder proudly served as an officer in the United States Army in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. There he met the love of his life, Glenda K. Johnson. They were soon married and began their adventure together in 1955.
His occupations included Farming and teaching Science at Springfield Junior High in Lodi, Ohio. Teaching Junior High Science at Bob Jones Junior High in Greenville, South Carolina. He was an Administrator and teacher at the School of Applied Studies at Bob Jones University while Pastoring Bethel Calvary Baptist Church for 37 years in Taylors, SC.
He is survived by his loving wife Glenda and their three children. Donald E. Snyder Jr., Stephen J. Snyder Sr., Jennifer K. Shoemaker as well as nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and sister Jan Matthews.
A funeral service for Donald will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Bethel Calvary Baptist Church, 11 Easy Street, Taylors, SC 29687, with visitation from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. A committal service will occur following the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
