Don served his country in the US Army, was a Free Mason and a Shriner. He also spent many years coaching at Sevier Recreation, Northwood Little league, Wade Hampton Cherokees and Greenville Post 3 American Legion. He loved watching his grandchildren compete in Athletics at Wade Hampton and Mauldin High Schools. Don was also an avid Clemson Tiger fan. After retirement he opened Hit’em Again Golf where he made many lasting friendships. Don’s motto became “Have Some Fun Everyday”
Don was predeceased by brothers, Winford Williamson, Bobby Williamson and Jack Williamson; and a sister Margret Hill. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joann, daughter Karen Scott (Chris) and son Donny. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiffany Kemp (Preston Grainger), Drew Scott (Heather), Drake Scott (Abbie), Grant Bartlett and Reese Bartlett. He totally adored his great grandchildren Sumter Scott and Kayla Grainger. Also surviving are brothers Jerry Williamson and Roy Williamson (Candy); sister Susie Raines; sisters-in-law Mickey Williamson and Judy Williamson ; and broher-in-law Bill Taylor.
The family would like to thank Brushy Creek Rehabilitation Center and Homestead Hospice. Flowers will be accepted but if desired donations can be made to The Shriners Hospital or First Tee Program of Greenville.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 10:00-11:30 am with a funeral service at 11:30 am at the Mackey Funerals & Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Greer SC.
