She is preceded in death by her husband Ken Pittman who passed away in 1982 and her oldest son Gary Pittman who passed away in 1996. She is also preceded in death by her parents John Henry and Annie Mae Armstrong and her sister Marcy Griffith all of Greenville, SC.
Connie is survived by her son Ted Pittman (Donna) and his children Zane Pittman, Ashley Millwood (Jeffery) and Tanner Pittman. She is also survived by Gary’s widow Farrar Pittman and their children Cullen Harper (Nick George), Ryan Pittman (Julie) and Miles Pittman (Clarina Bezzola) as well as four great grandchildren.
Connie was a long time employee of Dan River and Delta Mills Apparel. She loved to tell stories about growing up on the mill village and simpler times often stating “Growing up on the mill village, we were poor but we didn’t know we were poor.”
Some of her fondest memories were spent watching her two sons play basketball at Parker High School and Newberry College. She was an avid gardener and loved canning food at the end of summer. She was known for baking pecan pies and had them ready for all occasions.
A great source of pride for Connie was her 74 year membership of Monaghan Baptist church where she was a youth sponsor, sang in the choir, and on the church’s building committee.
Connie’s spirit was infectious and her charity for others was endless. Language comes up short when describing Connie’s capacity for love. She lived her life knowing one of life’s greatest secrets; that caring and doing for others is the best thing that one can do for themselves.
A special thanks to her girlfriends for their love and consideration. Pat Wagstaff, Gail Forrester and Betty Wyatt. The family would also like to thank Johnny Green
for his unflinching support and friendship as well as the staff at NHC for their professional care.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Monaghan Baptist Church and the National Kidney Foundation.
There will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Remembrance Chapel on Tuesday February 8th, 2022 at 3:00 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mackeycenturydrive.com for the Pittman family.
