Claire Stuart

Born in Atlanta GA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James Park and Dorothy Dardis Hanner. She was a graduate of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Beta Phi, and the Order of the Old Well. A longtime communicant of Christ Church Episcopal, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She also enjoyed volunteering in the Greenville community. Claire was a past president of the Junior League of Greenville and The Debutante Club; she served on the boards of the Greenville Metro YMCA and The Humane Society; and she was a Guardian ad Litem and Greenville Literacy Association tutor. Claire loved doing puzzles, vacationing at Litchfield Beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Claire was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Gene. She is survived by four children: Carol Flynn and husband Joe, of Fairfield, CT; Anne Hayes and husband Dion, of Richmond, VA; Dr. Gene Stuart and wife Kathryn, of Columbia, and Jim Stuart and wife Kim of Greenville. Also eight grandchildren: Conor Flynn, Claire Flynn, Elizabeth Hayes, Katie Hayes, Sara Stuart, Caroline Glenn Stuart, Morgan Stuart, and Anna Caroline Stuart.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Episcopal in Claire’s honor.
