R. Darren "Dt" Thomas

R. Darren Thomas, 50 of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Monday January 18, 2021 at his residence. He was born November 7, 1970 in Greenville, Ohio the son of Ronald Thomas of Lynn, Indiana and the late Sandra Sue (Kolling) Thomas.

He was a member of Life Spring Church where he was a Greeter and enjoyed fellowshipping with many who attended Saturday night services; He loved spending time with his granddaughter Shelby; helping coach softball with Doug Marshall; working on the pit crew for his friend Bear. He also enjoyed basketball, baseball, NASCAR, and attending races at Eldora Speedway and Gas City. He had a love for working on cars and dreamed of restoring cars.

He is preceded in death by his mother; his paternal grandparents: Karl Thomas & Margaret Thomas Lumpkin; his maternal grandparents: Russell & Kathryn Kolling; his aunts and uncles: Marcia Bruner, Jerry Thomas, Donna Jean Myers, Don & Jovetta Burk, & Darrell Kolling.

He is survived by his father; his step granddaughter: Shelby Hobson; his sister & brother in law: Dinese & Joey Watson of Lynn, Indiana; his nieces: Grace & Tarissa Watson and numerous cousins and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Steve Bray officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery, Hollansburg, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
