Marvin was born May 6, 1943, in Versailles to the late William L. & Marie (Baltes) Simon. Marvin was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ed Simon, Mike Simon and Bob “Rebee” Simon; and nephew, Douglas Simon.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol S. (Elliott) Simon whom he married May 31, 1969; children, Kimberly & John Sink of Rossburg, Brian & Shannon Simon of Tennessee, J.W. “Jim” Simon of Missouri, and Jenn & Derek Spencer of North Carolina; grandchildren, Brandon Simon, Haley Simon, Jonathan Stepp, Conner Simon, Nadia Simon, Macy Sink and Kaden Brookhart; great-granddaughters, Rayna Simon and Scarlett Simon; brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Kay Simon of Covington; his twin sister & brother-in-law, Mary Jane & Walt Wardley of New Carlisle; grand-dogs, Oscar, Honey, Smokey, Arlo, Ollie, Lucie Lu, Lucy, Murphy and Lucky Strike; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marvin retired from Sheller Globe in Union City, Indiana, with 28 ½ years and Copeland Corporation in Sidney with over 20 years of service. Marvin was a member of Rossburg Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Minneapolis-Moline Collectors Club. Marvin enjoyed collecting antique tractors, watching NASCAR and dirt track racing, reading the local newspapers, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 10, 2023, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Brian Simon of Newly Awakened Ministries. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
