She was preceded in death by her loving husband James (Jay) B. Mc Gann, her parents Sarah Agnes (Kelly) Riley and Charles Robert Riley, and her 4 siblings Dr. Charles Russell Riley, Mary Elizabeth Sublett, Rebecca Gorman, and Ruth Crist.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Mary Elizabeth Ealley, son-in-law Michael Ealley and her grandchildren Bridget, Jay and Meghan Ealley as well as her numerous nieces and nephews and their children, extended family and friends.
Virginia was a gracious and gentle woman, a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Nothing made her happier than being with her family. She loved when her home was full of friends and celebratory occasions. She was a devout Catholic, and throughout her life wherever she lived she was always connected to her parish and contributed and received many blessings. She volunteered in the library at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro, NC for many years and treasured the friends and memories she made.
Virginia was born and grew up in Richmond, VA. She raised her family in Arlington, VA, retired with her husband to West Palm Beach, FL and lived the last 14 years with her daughter and family in Greensboro, NC.
She was a graduate of Richmond Professional Institute a division of William and Mary (now VCU) with a degree in Fine Arts and a focus in portrait painting. She enjoyed a long career as a fashion illustrator in Richmond, New York and Washington, DC with Thalhimers, Macy’s and Gimbels. Her artistry graced advertisements in many newspapers and her portraits are enjoyed in many homes.
The Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 9th at 11:00am at St. Pius the Tenth Catholic Church, 2210 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. Prior to the Funeral Mass the family will welcome visitors at 10:00 am at the church. There will be an interment at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL.
