Thomas Jesse Crowder, 77, a resident of Greensboro died Saturday March 2, 2013 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Mr. Crowder was born April 21, 1935 in Greensboro, the son of W. H. and Bessie Calhoun Crowder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his military service he worked as an electrical engineer for NASA and retired from the Xerox Corp. as the west coast project manager and head of operations. Tom was a faithful and active member of Shining Light Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher.
He was married for 54 years to the former Alsie Jane Carr who precede him in death on August 24, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Aril Rafaelle.
Surviving are one daughter, Felicia Gail Rafaelle and husband Giorgio of Greensboro; one son, Marc Crowder of Greensboro; two brothers, Bill Crowder and wife Doris of New York, William Crowder and wife Lucy of New Mexico; five grandchildren, Annette Evangelista, Matthew Crowder, Tiffany James, Ashley Wells, Giorgio Rafaelle and five great grandchildren, Jace Evangelista, Jayden Evangelista, Cali James, Lanie James and Madi James.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Shining Light Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Jimmy Dillon. Interment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Shining Light Baptist Church on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
