Mrs. Minnie Sue Williams Rivenbark, 90, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, at her home. Sue was born July 23, 1920, in Staley, NC a daughter of Oscar Sampson and Mary Fox Williams.
Mrs. Rivenbark had previously worked for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and with IBM for 23 years. After retirement, she enjoyed golf at Starmount Country Club. She was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church and the Encouragers Sunday School Class.
Sue was preceded in death in 1986 by her husband of 41 years, James Almond Rivenbark. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Loy Williams and sisters, Bertha Hendry, Sally Edwards Golding and Polly Simmons.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan R. Samuel and husband Mike, Jill R. Carr and husband Mike, both of High Point; grandchildren, Bradley A. Samuel, Allison Carr Ratcliffe and husband Stephen, David J. Samuel and wife Ridgely, Brian E. Carr and wife Betsy and great grandson, Graham C. Ratcliffe.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church; 1411 Benjamin Parkway, Greensboro, NC 27408 conducted by the Reverend Brent Thomas. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Private family committal services will be at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262 or to Parkway Baptist Church.
