Steven Michael Swartz, 60, passed away on Wednesday. May 20, 2020 at Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC. He was born on May 15, 1960 in Rolla, MO, the son of Glenn Erving and Patricia Ann Ward Swartz. He attended Parkway South High School in St. Louis, MO. and then on to graduate with a BA in Chemical Engineering for the University of Missouri in Rolla.
On May 24, 1980, he married Teresa Lynn May at Manchester United Methodist Church in St. Louis. Steven was first employed with Biokiowa in Cape Girardeau, MO. He then worked with Calgon-Vestal and Flex-O-Light in St. Louis and Kentucky. He returned to St. Louis to again work with Calgon-Vestal.
Steven moved to North Carolina to work with Banner Pharmacaps in Greensboro and Qualicaps in Whitsett. His last job before going into retirement was at Perrigo in Michigan. Steven loved to play the guitar and was in a band when he was younger. He loved Mel Brooks and Monty Python films. He enjoyed cooking gourmet meals to the delight of his family and friends. He also loved entertaining and having people over.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Teresa Lynn Swartz of the home; children, Stephanie and Riley Shigemoto of Greensboro, NC, Lauren and Alex Peabody of Greensboro, NC ; grandchildren, Mackenzie Swartz-Scallan, Adam Peabody, Xander Peabody (due in June), Hayden Peabody, Leia Rasheed; siblings, Jana and Mark Crull of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and four legged friends, Bella and Melvin (both dogs). Steven was preceded in death by his parents and four other beloved dogs, Buddy, Cody, Jake and Roscoe.
There will be no services at this time. The family is mourning privately and on Sunday will be watching Mel Brooks’ movies in his honor.
Memorial contributions may be made in Steven’s memory to your local AA or to Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice for the care that was given to Steven and the family. Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is assisting the Swartz family.
