Sara Williams Hall

Sara Jean Williams Hall, 73, a former resident of Greensboro died Saturday, October 29, 2011, in Orange, CA with family members by her side, after a prolonged battle with Dementia. She is now free to dance in Heaven forever. She will be interred at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Guilford Memorial Park at 6000 High Point Road in Greensboro, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm at Centenary United Methodist Church, 2300 West Friendly Avenue in Greensboro. Afterward, friends and family will gather for a reception.

Born February 2, 1938, in Greensboro, NC, Sara graduated from Greensboro High School in 1956. She started working at Williams Steel Company in 1954 as a cost accounter, where she would work for 44 years. She was married to William B. Hall, Jr. on September 24, 1960. The marriage produced three children before ending, however, the two remained lifelong friends. Sara was very active in the Westbury community of Greensboro, volunteering as a PeeWee Cheerleading Coach, as well as with the flag football and softball teams, and serving with the local Moose Lodge. She loved to take care of others, draw, cook, drink coffee, visit with friends (especially playing Bridge with the “Golden Girls”), talk on the phone, and travel to the beach. She enjoyed dogs of all breeds, but Bambi and Freckles most of all. She was an incurable flirt, and enjoyed eating out with friends even more so later on in life. Always passionate about her faith in Jesus Christ, she volunteered at Centenary United Methodist Church and at Grace Harbor Church after moving to California to live with her daughter’s family. Sara, in her distinctive southern drawl, had many memorable sayings, including “You can do anything you set your mind to”, “Oh my stars and garters”, “My aching elbow”, and “He’s the best that’s out there” (in reference to her Son-in-Law).

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Opal Williams, a brother, Mike Williams, and her former husband, Bill Hall, Jr. She is survived by her brothers, Bob and Skip Williams (and wife, Fran), sister, Nancy Eppley (and husband, Jack), two sons, Bill “Mickey” Hall III (and wife, Jacqueline) and Chris Hall, a daughter, Sara Hall Botts (and husband, Henry). She also leaves her grandchildren, Terrance Smith, Desiree Hall, Blake Hall, Brooks Hall, Gabrielle Botts, Rebekah Botts, and three great-grandchildren.
