Robert Edward Scott foster, age 90 passed away on January 28, 2024. Robert was born November 13, 1933 as Robert Edward Scott, in New Castle, Indiana. His father was murdered in 1938 as part of a feud and he was adopted by his father’s best friend, Charles E Foster. He volunteered for the draft in April 1953 and was inducted into the U.S. Army. After completing Infantry Basic and Advanced Training, he volunteered for Airborne training and was one of the fist nine draftees accepted into the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He graduated from the 11th Airborne Division NCO Academy in August 1954 and was awarded the Expert Infantryman’s Badge. He served as a gunner and company armorer.
After separating from the Army in June 1955, he attended Ball State Teachers College where he earned a B.S. in Education. This is also where he met his wife, Janice who was in nursing school.
He entered the Air Force in October, 1960 and was became an agent of the OSI (Office of Special Investigations). He was assigned all over the country and the world (Philippines, London and Vietnam), traveling extensively which generated many of his stories. He also served in the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) at the Pentagon. His favorite assignment was Malmstrom AFB in Montana because he could fish the Missouri River. He retired February 1985 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He enjoyed his retirement fishing and traveling the country in his RV to gun shows with his wife and dogs. His wife died in 2015 in Redlands CA and he relocated to North Carolina to be closer to family.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne Chabon (Steve), Cheryl Cook (Mike) and Robert Foster (Amanda) and 5 grandchildren.

A celebration of life service for Robert will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N Elm St, Greensboro, North Carolina 27401.
