Nancy W. Kennedy

Nancy Whitson Kennedy passed away at her home on October 6, 2017. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Nancy was fun loving, kind and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Born February 7, 1948 in New Rochelle, NY, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Helene Elise Whitson. She moved to North Carolina in 1958. She later worked at Sears in Greensboro for 20 years and then for Sam’s for eight years. After that, Nancy was promoted to homemaker, where she enjoyed working in her yard, baking, shopping and taking care of her family, her four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her beloved spoiled pups.

Nancy is survived by her husband Dick Kennedy; children, Tammy Steelman, Kenny Steelman and wife Rhonda, Rick Kennedy; sisters, Barbara W. Crawford and husband Bill, Ginger Thompson; brother, Ted Whitson and wife Donna; four grandchildren, Brittany Steelman, Hannah Steelman, Gerrard Le'Gette, Heather Stevenson and four great grandchildren, Cooper Steelman, Rory Stevenson, Ruby Stevenson and Emory Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 11, 2017 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Marshall Benbow. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
