Myrtie Sullivan went home to be with her Lord Saturday, December 4, 2010. She went peacefully after having spent the last 8 years, 11 months of her earthly life at Blumenthal Jewish Home in Greensboro.
Born to the late Stella A. and Ransom Bryant on August 4, 1910, Myrtie celebrated her 100th birthday this year with her loved ones around her.
She was married to the late Wilbert H. Sullivan, to whom she was a faithful and devoted wife for 46 years. She honored his wishes to be a homemaker and devoted mother of their three daughters.
Myrtie was a loving, caring mother and grandmother who prayed daily for her family members and taught them the importance of prayer and faithfulness to God. She and her husband were charter members of Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved her church and was faithful until failing health prevented her attendance and participation.
Myrtie loved to read, her favorite book was the Bible which she read through nine times. She was a seamstress, specializing in embroidering, quilting, made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and growing a variety of flowers and plants.
Myrtie is survived by two daughters: Doris Wilson and husband Larry, Dot Holleman and husband Sonny all of Greensboro. 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert Sullivan, three sisters: Meta Altman, Zora Wise and Almadia Comer, two brothers: Simon Bryant and Calvin Bryant, daughter Myrthia Lee Hanner and grandson, Reverend Ricky Hanner of South Carolina.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
She will be missed by her family who loved her dearly and learned much by her godly example.
We, the family would like to thank all previous and current employees of BJH who gave care to our loved one and did it with a heart of compassion and understanding despite the situation. May God who truly sees your hard work, as we have seen firsthand, bless and reward you for every laborious task you rendered with hand and heart! You will never know the prayers offered on your behalf over the years.
