Mary Louise Jones

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel. Burial will follow at Gilmore Memorial Park Cemetery in Julian, NC. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the funeral home.

Born in Reidsville on July 28, 1938 to the late Joe Henry Lemons and Willie Vickers Lemons, Mary was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church. She was retired Security from American Express. Her bravery and commitment to protecting those she served earned her a promotion to Lieutenant. She was also recognized as a sharp shooter within her fellow officers. Upon retiring she pursued a career as a bus driver for children within Guilford County because of her passion for helping disabled and handicapped children. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Richard of 49 years, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Polly Merchant.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Lee York of Greensboro, Doug Jones and wife Patty of Kernersville, Joey Jones and fiancé Mary Wright of McLeansville; daughter, Marie Jones and husband Jeff Bean of Kernersville; grandchildren, Chris York, Melodie York, Kyle Jones, Zach Jones, Paige Jones, Hannah Jones, Kalie Jones, Jessie King, Matt King and Natalie Bean; great-grandchildren, Wilder York, Bradly King, Ryleigh King, Noah Shore, Asher Jones, and Abel Jones; sisters, Dot Richardson and Gail Mote, both of Ramseur and a brother, Larry Lemons of Climax.
