Mary Carolyn Garrett, 88, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Thursday June 30, 2016 at Wesley Long Hospital. Mary was born in Guilford County the daughter of Jeffery Reid Jones and Annie Hawkins Jones.
Mary graduated from Woman’s College (UNC-G) and taught for 27 years before retiring, teaching at Caesar Cone Elementary School and Vandalia Elementary School.
She was married to George Thomas Garrett who preceded her in death in October 2005. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Annie Reid Jones Nash.
Surviving are two sons, Leslie “Les” T. Garrett and wife Debbie of Greensboro, G. Fred Garrett of Greensboro and a granddaughter, Sharon Garrett.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Eugene Dean.
Memorials may be made in Mary’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
