Martha Lou "Marcie" Shaw

Martha Lou Shaw (Marcie), 87, went home to her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2015 at High Point Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. She was born on May 26, 1928, in Greenville, SC the daughter of the late Emily O’Nell Carson Eckel and James Anderson George. She was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. Martha’s greatest joys in life were her faith and family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Martha was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. William T. Carson her grandparents who lovingly raised her. Also preceded in death by Ruth Anne Patterson (sister), Mary Nell Carson (sister), Leslie Vuncannon (granddaughter), Charles Hough (son-in-law), Sam Patterson (brother-in-law) and Danny Patterson (nephew).

Those left to cherish her memories are daughters: Linda Hough of High Point, Janet Batts (Ken) of Greensboro, and Debra Lawson (Tim) of Asheboro, sons: Chuck Shaw (Tina Allen) of Greensboro, Kirk Shaw (Donna) of Summerfield, and Greg Shaw of High Point; grandchildren Chad Hough, John Batts, Marie Coble, Kaitlyn Shaw, Landon Shaw and Carson Shaw. Also surviving are Ben Carson (brother-in-law), three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday July, 7, 2015 at Jamestown United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Tom Latimer. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Monday, July 6th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Brookdale High Point North Memory Care for the exceptional and loving care they gave to their mother during her time with them. She considered this her home and she loved all the staff and they were a blessing to her. Also a special thank you to Dr. Heather Spry and her staff for their loving care of Martha.
