Lisa Mittnacht Barbour passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving daughter, son and brothers at Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell. She was 59 years young.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street with Pastor Bill Goans officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Raised in Princeton, NJ, Lisa was born September 17, 1956, the only daughter of four children to the late Nancy Bracy Mittnacht and Dr. Arthur Ernest Mittnacht, Jr. She attended Princeton Day School followed by Rollins College in Winter Park, Fl., where she met her husband of 20 years Steve Barbour. She obtained her B.S. degree from UNCG in 1993 and gradutated Magna Cum Laude. She worked in primary education with Greensboro Day School as well as the Guilford County School system where she took a personal interest in all her students and their wellbeing. She also worked at Burlington Orthopedics as a Radiology Technician where she formed many close friendships. However, her true love was raising her two children Allison and Jim.
Lisa is survived by her children, Allison Bracy Barbour of Greensboro, James Brian Barbour of Charlotte; brothers, Peter Mittnacht and wife Kate of NJ, Art Mittnacht of Pinehurst and John Mittnacht of Greensboro. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, friends and her dog, Sophie.
The family would like to thank all of her doctors at Duke Medical Center and Alamance Regional along with her caregivers and staff for the loving care and attention shown to their mother.
