Kurt Roehrig, 67, of Greensboro, died Monday, July 22, 2024 at Heritage Greens following an extended illness. A gathering of friends and family will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel.
Kurt was born October 28, 1956 in San Francisco, CA, the son of the late William and Martha Crocker Roehrig.
He spent most of his life in Saint Petersburg, FL, before landing in Michigan where he met his wife, Carmella, and they had their two children. Eventually, they settled their family in Greensboro, NC.
Kurt was a father, a husband, a racer, an intellect, a fighter, an adrenaline junkie and everybody’s favorite person to be around. Kurt said hi to every dog on the street and once saved a man from drowning in the ocean. Kurt would literally give you the shirt off his back. Yes, he was that guy.
Kurt was one of the blessed few who knew his passion at a very early age, and was a graduate of the Kettering Institute graduating with a degree in engineering. Being extremely hardworking and driven, he was able to leverage that passion into a career and founded his own company, Roehrig Engineering Inc., specializing in first in class automotive and motorsports testing equipment.
Many of those who knew Kurt thought of him as the “smartest guy they ever met”. Many of those who worked with Kurt thought of him as “their boss who made chicken clucking noises over the intercom”. Kurt was a vibrant, lovable person with a great sense of humor. He traveled the world and was always excited to share his stories. Kurt loved 80’s music, extra crispy fries and driving too fast. Above all, Kurt loved his family.
In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by his brother, James Dana Roehrig.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Carmella Roehrig; daughter, Madison Roehrig and son Max Roehrig, all of Greensboro, and his brother, Mark Roehrig of Saint Petersburg, FL.
Tremendous thanks goes to the extraordinary caregivers and staff at Heritage Greens.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in Kurt’s name be made to the HKC Foundation for Parkinson’s, P.O. Box 1963, Jamestown, NC 27282. hamilkerrchallenge.com
