Kenneth Patrick Carty, Sr.

Kenneth Patrick Carty, Sr., 77, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Thursday April 25, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. He was born October 1, 1941 in The Bronx, New York, the son of Frederick George and Martha Mary Langan Carty.

Ken was employed for 42 years with Lucent Technologies (Western Electric, AT&T), retiring as a Business Systems Manager. He was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Helen and two brothers, Robert and Frederick.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen of the home; daughters, Christine Carty Dohm and husband Donald of Madison, Sheila Carty of Cary; sons, Kenneth P Carty, Jr. and wife Jessie of Charlotte, Brian Carty of Raleigh; brother, John Carty and wife Patricia of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Susan Smith of Bay Shore, NY; cousin, Helen Jacobs of Bellmore, NY and grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick, and Ryan Dohm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 109 West Smith Street. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street.
